Every October the Association runs it’s own honey show, for members to compete in.  There are categories for all sorts of hive products, including the usual range of honey classes, a wax class, a cookery section, and a section for mead.  All products are judged according to their merit, and there is cup for the competitor with the most points, as well as a ‘Best in Show’ cup.

Although the show is run in a formal capacity it is all a bit of fun, celebrating the products of the beekeeping year (or lack thereof!).  The highlight of the show is the Honey Tasting Competition, where members are encouraged to bring a pot of their own honey, and all participate in a completely subjective process of grading the honeys according to their own preference.  The results are combined and there are prizes for the most and least tasty honey in the Association!
